WHAT IS PSPA’S PATHWAY TO PROGRESS?
We invite supporters from across the UK to join us in this special fundraising event. Whether you create your own charity walk or join an existing team, this is the perfect opportunity to make a difference and show your support for loved ones living with PSP & CBD.
The PSPA Pathway to Progress is our community fundraising event that aims to engage individuals, teams, and schools in a health-focused challenge to walk, run or ride as far as they can. This year, we are aiming to create a virtual Pathway right around Great Britain’s Coastline! Help us get as far as possible.
By joining our Pathway to Progress challenge, you will help PSPA continue our vital work throughout 2026 and beyond. This event will empower people to show their support, raise much-needed funds, share information about PSP & CBD, and foster a sense of community. In this spirit, we ask that there be a flat section in your proposed charity walk to allow everyone to be involved, no matter their mobility level (wheelchair and walking aid access), ideally towards the end of the event.
Are you ready to make a difference? Sign up for PSPA’s Pathway to Progress event today and be part of something truly special.

PATHWAY TO PROGRESS 2026 AMBASSADOR – LESLIE’s STORY
When Leslie Ferrar’s Aunt Beth was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy after two years of misdiagnoses and appointment waiting lists, the news was hard to take in.
But instead of giving up, Leslie put on her walking boots.
To mark her 70th birthday, Leslie set a daunting goal: 630 miles in six months. As a retired accountant, she planned the journey with precision, averaging four miles a day, with the stories of her aunt and others living with the challenges PSP & CBD bring, that kept her moving.
PSPA are proud to announce Leslie Ferrar as the official Event Ambassador for Pathway to Progress 2026. The appointment comes after Leslie completed a staggering 630-mile trek in 2025, raising over £20,000 to fight PSP & CBD.
“PSPA gave us the support we needed to prepare for the future. And after hearing about PSPA’s Pathway to Progress event, I knew I had one big fundraiser left in me, one more chance to make a difference, to ensure no other family had to walk this path alone.” – Leslie Ferrar
Leslie is now calling on the public to join the Pathway to Progress. This year’s challenge is an ambitious virtual community walk aiming to collectively cover the entire coastline of the UK.
PATHWAY TO PROGRESS PERSONAL EXPERIENCES
LALI SHUREY
“My Dad was diagnosed with PSP right before COVID, and I wanted to fundraise to support the great work PSPA does for people who are diagnosed and their families. I wanted to raise as much as possible, so I advertised the PTP to all of my colleagues, and we had a great turnout of people wanting to take part, so we ended up having to do the walks in 3 different locations, so everyone could participate!”

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Pathway to Progress work?
Pathway to Progress is a UK‑wide virtual community fundraising event where participants walk, run or cycle any distance they choose. All distances are logged and added together to help us collectively complete the full coastal route around Great Britain. You can take part wherever you are, at a pace that suits you. Whether it’s a short stroll, a longer route, or completing it over multiple days, every mile helps move our virtual pathway forward.
How do I track my mileage?
You can track your distance in any way that works for you, including:
- A fitness watch
- A phone app (e.g., Strava, MapMyWalk, Apple Health, Google Fit)
- A treadmill or exercise bike display
- A simple pedometer
Once you know your distance, you’ll be able to log it through our event form or your fundraising page (details can be added to the instructions once the system is finalised).
How can I raise awareness at the same time?
There are several easy ways to help raise awareness of PSP & CBD while completing your challenge:
- Share updates and photos on social media using the campaign hashtag (once created).
- Wear PSPA‑branded clothing or accessories.
- Personalise your fundraising page with your story and why you’re taking part.
- Invite friends, neighbours, colleagues, or local groups to join you for part of your walk.
- Ask your workplace, school, club, or community group to feature your challenge in newsletters or noticeboards.
Internal communications plans also emphasise the impact of spotlighting fundraisers on social media, which has proven highly engaging.
Can I fundraise as a group with loved ones or family?
Absolutely! Groups are very welcome to take part together.
You can:
- Register together as a team
- Complete one shared walk
- Track your individual or combined distances
- Create a joint fundraising page or multiple linked pages
The event is designed to build community and encourage collective effort.
Can I still take part if I'm not very physically active?
Yes! Pathway to Progress is fully inclusive.
You can choose any distance that feels comfortable, and we encourage routes that include accessible, flat sections for those using wheelchairs, mobility aids, or prams. This aligns with the event’s aim of enabling everyone to get involved regardless of mobility level.
Even small distances make a meaningful contribution to the campaign.
How do I sign up / get started?
Signing up is quick and easy:
- Visit the Pathway to Progress registration page.
- Register as an individual or team.
- Set up your fundraising page (via JustGiving or the chosen platform).
