Edition 3
The third edition of PSPA Matters 2026 is now available! It features the latest news, inspiring stories, and useful information for the PSP & CBD community.
Our magazine has a new design and look, shaped by the feedback provided by our PSP & CBD community. We hope you like it! It’s important for us to create a magazine that is informative and engaging.
This edition starts with the findings from our 2025 survey, revealing the impact of PSP & CBD, from delayed diagnosis to daily struggles and caring pressures. It highlights the urgent need for action, calling for faster, more accurate diagnosis, better coordinated care, stronger mental health and financial support, earlier planning as needs progress, and greater recognition and support for carers.
Next, we feature John and Gillian Manitara’s powerful story as part of Awareness Week. Learn how, by sharing their story, John and Gilly
helped thousands more people understand the realities of living with PSP.
The edition also includes articles on understanding depression, anxiety and apathy, a new, free Will-writing service, updates on research studies being funded by the Understood Fund, as well as those looking to improve diagnosis, personal stories of fundraising, volunteering and community in action, as well as an update on the amount raised through Pathway to Progress.
We are pleased to announce that we have already raised more than £84,000 through the virtual challenge and are confident that, thanks to your efforts, we will reach our target of £100,000. You can also read about how our Helpline Care Navigators are bringing people together and supporting those in need.
Finally, this edition of PSPA Matters features an update on PSPA’s new research strategy by our CEO, James Cusack.
